The R7184P and U controls have a valve-on delay (pre-purge) and a motor-off delay (post-purge) feature. As with the R7184B control, this requires the installation of a solenoid valve. In wiring the R7184P and U controls you will have a red wire from the control that connects to the limit and a black wire to constant L1 power. This must be done to achieve the motor-off delay (post-purge) feature. A common wiring error involves connecting the red wire from the R7184P or U control with the line voltage (L1) black wire of the appliance. If this happens, you may fail to have the motor-off delay (post-purge) feature. All other wiring is consistent with the R7184 controls.
